Help!! My 40D got problem.

Hi all,

Recently I just bought a new 40D from Hong Kong. So far too around 200 pictures. However, few of them got problem that only show top half page, the bottom half is all blank with gray colour. anyone facing the same problem as me?


zzzz bought from HK, not sure the warranty can use here.

You have give us more info on the settings used during those problematic images.

Were you using the flash and on manual mode? What shutter and aperture?

HK warranty for Camera Body does not apply in Singapore. If you send it in most likely you gotta pay, unless they willing to make exception for you. Better find out what's the issue before sending to CSC.

hey i think there's a possibility of coverting the HK warranty to Singapore warranty, but instead of a year, you'll only get 6 months warranty, i haven't got my a DSLR, but according to a nice fren of mine, told me it's possible. Try checking it out with Canon if there really is a problem with your camera. Btw, how much did you pay for your 40D ?

i DO believe that is only possible only for compact camera. For DSLR I do not see anyone offering any international warranty as of yet. But I may be wrong on this. Please call and check.

change a memory card

i once had the same problem while trying to cut-paste my photos from my memory card. some transferred photos turned out exactly the way you described it.

Maybe after trying your memory card, please update us how is the issue. i hope it will be solved.

I had the same problem with my HK-purchased 40D also. It was random and only once for each shoot.
I had to format the CF card a few times using the cam before it was rid of the problem. The CF card is a 4GB PQ branded card given by the shop.
No problem with my 8GB Sandisk III.
