if you dun want to change lenses then why go for DSLR? Stick with the prosumers like Fuji S100FS, S2000HD, Canon SX1 IS, SX 10IS, S5 IS, Olympus SP 570UZ, etc

I just sold my FZ18. Much higher than his at 550 but I had TCON17 + DMW-LA3 + Sandisk Extreme 3 4GB SDHC in the package.

I say if you nego his to a 320-350 range, maybe you have a deal. It all depends on what you like by the way.

Lets also just say the FZ18 is a very powerful daytime camera, but by night, you need to know your limits. If you want the zoom and plan on a dSLR, why not buy a 400mm lens? You can get 3rd party ones around 400-500 i hear.

i didnt say permanently using kit lens, but for time being until i get the hang of my wallet, and less room for argument since my gf wants to learn photography at the same time.

I didn't hear wrongly, two of the CS members mentioned it to me. My post is still up in the newbie forum. Its a Tokina 400mm F5.6 if i recall correctly.

Just do add, 400-500 is a 2nd hand pricing.

It's an exception, and a discontinued lens. See here for the market trend :
