I have tried my 1.4x on AFS, AFD and Sigma HSM lenses and they all worked, although there may be exceptions, I have limited lenses. It worked on my D300 as well as my D60 - for the D60 the lens must be AFS (and 1 case of HSM). Not tried on Tokina cause I got none. But there are AFS lenses that won't work with the TC, like the AFS60mm f/2.8G Micro. Will not AF but can do MF. Nikon manuals say: no TC for AFS60, and TC will work for AFS105VR but won't AF. Oh watch the maximum aperture - effective aperture above f/5.6 you can kiss AF good bye mostly (e.g. lens with f/2.8 with 2x goes f/5.6 effective - limit for AF). And my last experiment was on Ai/AiS lenses - can't even mount the lens. Your best bet - bring your rig to the shop and try out the combinations. That way you're sure. If you have 600mm f/4 hire a porter. I said nothing about image quality. For IQ do a search or start a new thread. Hope this helps. Last edited by diediealsomustdive; 16th October 2008 at 11:42 AM. |

Just tried on my 70-300 VR. Works fine in all but the 300mm range under dim lighting. AF hunts quite a bit. Better to MF at this range and dim light.

I got the Teleplus Pro300 series. There's another make called Kenko Teleplus Pro300. Asked Nelson at TCW what's the diff. He said that Kenko is like the OEM for Teleplus ? Mentally, the tot that went thru my mind was "no difference....". Hahaha.... just my opinion. Perhaps someone can educate us on the details ? Oh, btw, seems like we cannot use the Nikon ones though..... Those don't work on the 18-200 VR or the 70-300 VR..... Really curious why. Will be trying the 1.4x on my Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro soon ! Was told by Leslie (John3:16) that it'll work fine ! Hee..... Let's see..... 1.5x crop factor, 1.4x from TC and 150mm. That makes 315mm !!!! Geez..... wonder if I can catch the XXXX of a spider like that !~~~ HAHAHAA>>... Ooops! Will the mods mind such lang....? ![]() ![]()
