hmmm image quality is just about right.

But based on this, i'm certain i will limit myself to iso1600 max if i ever need to pump iso for shoots.

i think a better guage is to take it in a very dark situation

eg off candlelight, in a bar or pub etc

its in the shadows we see the difference

the d700 shows some "bands" in the shadows in very dark situations at 6400 and above.

The first photo looks pretty good. There's just very slight noise that's not really noticeable.

No point doing 100% crop if you're not going to be putting 100% crop photos for people to view.
