what to look out for when buying 2nd hand cameras/equipment

hello,

have anyone bought 2nd hand cameras or equipments before?
or experienced buying from classifieds(such as clubsnap buy/sell) or auctions etc.
what do you look for when buying them?
Especially for cameras?

do you have a checklist? and how would you know the camera functions are in working order?

have anyone experienced any problems when dealing with classified adverts for 2nd hand equipment?

when you purchase your camera and find some fuctions are faulty, would the seller have the obligation to refund your money?

Any help would be appreciated.
