Home made light tent?

I am interested in doing some macro/desktop photography.
Saw a kenko light tent at cathay, costs about $95 dollars. a bit pricey for someone starting out. has anyone have experience making your own light tent?

thinking of getting a nikon micro 60mm, what else can i do to get better then 1:1 magnification?

lastly, any links to websites with more information with regards to the topic of desktop photography?
