Instead of deciding on a lens based on your camera body; base it on your shooting requirements, be it an L lens or something else.

There is no such thing as over kill, better lens also mean better image. I got a friend who is using 300D with 70-200 2.8 IS.

Yep no such thing as overkill but don't decide based on your camera body.

If you can afford it... why limit yourself with an 'inferior' lens? Go for the L!

Lens is more important than body. If you are in the generation of using 300D and above (meaning all those XXXD, XXD, XD, 1D), the body cannot go wrong and is enough for producing great pics. But its the lens which is the ultimate diff maker.
For example: compare 40D fitted with 18-55IS and 350D fitted with 135L, the latter combination will produce sharper and more contrasty/colourful pics ![]() |

I have seen pics of people using a silver 350D on a 500mm, so no, it's not overkill. I would gladly use a 70-200 2.8IS (twice as expensive) on my 400D.

If you need that lens with the range and IS, then its not overkill. Whether it feels balanced or not to you is another matter, so a battery grip might be a consideration.
I personally use the 350D with the F4IS, very happy with its performance. Enjoy yours!

70-200 f4 IS is a sharp lens on 450D. Get it! But if you are getting the 70-200 f2.8 is, I may suggest you think twice as I dont think the later is sharp enough at 2.8 at that hefty price tag...

My initial plan was to get a d1000 or 450 coupled with an L lens. But I ended up with a D50 and I'm going for the 70-200 F2.8 IS Last edited by Atomant669; 14th October 2008 at 09:15 PM. |
