was told that the video was like equal to nothing fancy as the most optimal video quality can only be best obtained when filming on a tripod if zooming is involved as the video img will "jagger up and down" and now read about D90 full review from dpreview.com, kinda shaken as the images are reviewed to be soft.. 50D was too ex.. now 40D no more stock across several shops. ![]() |

most salesmen can't be trusted.. they will sell what makes them the most commission.. do your research before you go to the shops.. go to the shops only to try and have a feel of the cameras, but take everything you are told with a pinch of salt..
at the same time, it won't hurt to go to the more trusted and recommended shops.. good luck! |

"Having seen how much sharper the RAW results are than the default JPEG output, it comes as no surprise to find that much of the difference between the 450D and the D90 evaporates when processed in the same manner." You want sharper Jpegs, i'm sure there's a setting to increase sharpening in-camera. |

which means taking RAW, will result a much sharper img? Comparing to in-camera imagine processing the Jpeg is made soft? I'll go read dpreview again. ![]() |

Of course to each his own but to be fair..
go vimeo.com(whr u can upload/watch HD videos),search 'D90'. If you have no intention of ever shooting videos then forget it..but for some of us,esp.if u know editing, the ability to play with lens, dof,etc is really pretty cool.. but of course 'if want shoot video get a videocam' still rings true, but what is achievable on the D90 is nothing to be sneezed at as well. 50D is built very solidly(= weight) And though I love its contruction, personally I feel its too heavy for my preference. Just go into shop & handle both. Of course price rather different, unfair comparision. Last edited by firestone; 14th October 2008 at 03:23 PM. |

![]() Yes, there is an option to control the sharpening in the D90. It's standard profile by default is a little soft, so in my case I'll increase the sharpening level with negligible presence of artifacts. Also remember, the 50D is more expensive than the D90. In fact, it sits at a very interesting price point in between the D300 and D90, although it's closer towards the D300. D300 goes for S$2k body-only, whereas it's about S$1.8k body-only for the 50D. Body-only price for the D90 is quoted to be around S$1.4k, so does that mean we should compare the 50D with the D300 on price instead? ![]()

I was considering similar... Ask if it really matters to you.
Does 14v12 bit matters( most commercial printed materials are actually done in only 8 bit) Does the extra 1.5fps matters (how often u shooting sports) Does 15mp vs 12mp matters.(how often u print? next to...never?) Or would u rather spend the extra$$ to buy a 'better' lens... |
