Work well in what sense? I really wouldn't recommend that lens to anyone.

For FF cams, what are the 3rd party FF alternatives for ultra WA lens beside the 16-35L & 17-40L?

If got marnie, that lense is good. If got no marnie, that lense is not good.

OK Seriously, the ONLY other lense in a similar focal range is the somewhat unknown but highly-rated (and HUGE) Sigma 15-30mm lense. I don't think it's available new anymore, but the 2nd hand market should still have a few copies ard $400-$450.

The Sigma a very capable lense up to a certain point - once you print S8Rs and bigger, you'll see the difference between the Sigma lense, and the Canon 1635 M2.

Needless to say, the Canon is a lot faster, both the aperture as well as the focusing. But the Sigma is no slouch either.

Some people love the Canon, and some people hate it. It's up to you to decide what you need at the end of the day, and how much you can afford to spend.

For a lot less money, the Canon 17-40L is a really nice lense!

16-35 is not UWA on 1.6crop sensor.. so if u wanna get that for UWA, ask yourself if u are moving to full frame very soon or not

It's ok we are all here to learn. So you have the great 1755 lens. If you go 5DII (FF), the EF-S lens cannot be used. Cos EF-S lens is really meant for small size sensors cameras only (350D, 400D, 450D, 20, 30, 40, 50D). But, EF lens, such as 16-35, can be used on your 400D. Compatible, no worries.

That said, 16-35 is quite hard to use and the image quality may not make you feel justified to spend nearly 2k on it. But if you really want the widest zoom lens on your 5DII in future, this lens is it.

Tks you very much for your reply & what you had written. The 16-35mm/F2.8L CP is selling 2.1k that why.I'm asking how good is the len because I don't want to regret after buying it.Because some said that 17-40mm/F4L is just as good.I take mostly indoor shots without flash were the F4 work well.

If without flash, 16-35's f/2.8 may not even cut it. Only prime lens with f/1.2, f/1.4, f/1.8 can make it. But that said, if you use such apertures in low light, the DOF will be thin, and subject isolation will occur. So it depends on what kind of shots you wan to do in indoors.

Like in the hall the ceiling light is on but no flash for photo shot.

True, the 17-55mm will not be able to work on the 5DMKII.

But I had to ask, why the hurry to go FF? The 17-55mm and the 400D is a good combo, if you are a newbie that you claimed you are. Don't fall into a trend of upgrading for the sake of it.

PS: It's lens, not len.

As some quoted u'll lose the wide side of the lens and whether works well depends on what u shoot most in general. The 16-35 f/2.8L II is a great lens to use but more expensive due to f/2.8. Else the 17-40 f/4L will be value for money.
