Default CF card

My 400D has problem with some of the cards. The images get corrupted. Sometime recoverable sometimes cannot.

Adata Speedy 4G and also Datotek 8G. Anyone encounter the problem?

Sorry, I've never tried that card before.
I use only SAN DISK CF card on my 20D. Never fails!

It is hard to say what could be wrong.

Standard procedures for these include:

1. Making sure you have latest firmware

2. Formatting card in camera before use

3. Do not interrupt the camera while it is writing to card (taking more photos is OK, reviewing photos while it is still writing is not a good idea, turning off camera or opening CF door is a no-no)

If, however, you only encounter problem with lesser known cards, I suggest just getting rid of them.

Me neither. I only use SanDisk Extreme III cards and yes I second lennyl, I also do the formatting on camera before going for a shoot.

okay, i'm not saying that the more reputed brandsa like sandisk, kingston and lexar don't have such error issues, but i suppose that the actually occur A LOT less than cheaper brands. the chinese have it right here: 一分钱,一分货。

They have a limited lifetime warranty. So if one gets corrupted, you'll just have to bring it to them and they'll replace it 1-to-1 for you. Of course you'd have to get your pictures out using software that can sift through the corruption.

It is advisable to invest only in CF/SD memory cards from reputable brands such as Sandisk, Lexar, Kingston. In the manufacture of memory cards, there are always tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 OEM customers. Reputable brands are Tier 1 customers and their cards are made from the best quality memory chips. It is not worth to save on cheaper memory cards and risk losing all your hard work and memorable moments that you cannot recapture again. Another suggestion regarding memory cards is try not to put all your eggs in one big basket, for example, it is better to carry 2 x 4GB cards then one 8GB card. Should something happen to the 8GB card you may lose everything. This is just a personal recommendation. I am sure some photogs may not agree.
