Haha just copy and paste link only.. Anyway as you said, enough of "drifting cars and wakeboarding", paintball should get the exposure it rightfully deserves!
My 2 cts.. Maybe not such a visual spectacle as the other 2 sports, because each match lasts barely 5 mins. For some of the matches I couldn't even get a photo after the break because it was over so quick! Luckily SPNS was a whopping 71 matches long (!) so there was plenty of action from 9 to 5. Photos aren't very well-executed from a technical perspective: Had to MF through 2 layers of green netting designed to keep stray balls in the field. Images were fuzzy and severely lacked contrast due to glare off the nets. Had to try to pre-empt the players to get some of the running shots. Will try to get on the other side of the netting for SPNS 09, but then there'll be the challenge of looking into the viewfinder while wearing the protective mask. Not easy as well. |

Paintball photography isn't the usual stuff; you'll need to play the game itself to know how the players will move, then you'll be able to anticipate their moves. And yes shooting through a mask is shitty. Ha!
Too bad i was denied access yesterday cos i was a player myself. ![]() |

Nice shots Darren. I was suppose to be there too to cover one of the team, my friends are playing. But I was down with the flu during the weekend, so didn't manage to go. Previously I shot inside the field during their practice sessions, kenna shot twice haha. Its not easy to shoot with a DSLR with a mask on, sometimes I wish a DSLR with Live view might come in handy for such event. Anyway good effort in shooting from outside the field.

Should be able to access zoom ring easily using this method. Plus a UV filter for the front, and know when to turn away and shield the camera if some player fires off a salvo in your direction. Haha maybe try not to be in the line of fire behind a player, asking for trouble only! ![]() |
