I'm very very tempted leh. I only just bought my 860IS. Didn't even know 870IS was coming that soon.
Has anyone used the 870IS yet? |

Why chase after new models? It will be a never ending road. Analyse what you need against the camera you have to decide if you need an upgrade.

Yes, I think you should sell it off.
I know how it feels. Not a good feeling when you bought a new electronic gadget, only to know shortly a later model is in the market. Bear with some loss but feel happy that you get the latest! Whatever makes you happy is more important than worrying or regreting about having made the wrong purchase. |

if shooting pictures makes you happy, keep the 860.
if collecting the latest model makes you happy, get the 870. if you want a poor man's upgrade, buy a sticker and write '870' on it, then paste it over the 860. what does the 870 have that the 860 doesn't that you need?

Actually I don't chase after new models per se. It's just for this particular case, I bought the 860IS only recently without knowing 870IS was coming out that soon. The price diff wasn't even that great. Just $60 and the 870IS has a better processor.
Will give it some thot lah... |

I do not think you can sell your 860IS at the same price that you bought. In fact, you will need to sell at a discount price once the item go 2nd hand regardless whether it has been used or recently purchased. So, the price difference between your "old" 860IS and 870IS will be a lot greater than $60 now.
Of course, if you have loads of $, why not? ![]() |

I have a 860IS and I doubt the 870 will give much better results. It really is a very good little PnS already. I say ignore the new model unless you have incurable upgradeitis.

I did a comparison between the 860IS and 870IS at the shop last week as I am really surprised to find so much noise from my 860 shots at ISO 80. Initially I though it is a mistake and that the shot was taken at ISO 800.
You must buy the 870IS as the noise control is much better. The 870 produces clean shots at up to ISO 400, and the noise at ISO 800 is not too bad. I am surprised that Canon can produce such a poor performing camera like the 860IS. I have always been happy with all my other Canon pns. Now my daughter will get the 860IS after dropping her Canon S50. |

If you can affort it, it is a better camera, otherwise just keep the 860.
