Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro out of stock?

Hello all,

Interested in macro shooting, hence trying to get a feel on it(Tamon 90mm). Went to few shops in Funan today. All out of stock, at last... managed to found at Penisula after few shops of query.... (the sales is unfriendly)

Anyone out there know how much a new Tamron 90mm len cost? The lowest i can found in Funan is SGD470(but no stock), others shop sellings between SGD550-SGD580.

Several shops telling me that agent do not have any more stock.. maybe new similar lens coming out soon??? Do you guys know any news?

Yes the new 90mm for Nikon mount is coming out. The new Nikon mount will have built-in AF-motor to support AF on low-end Nikon DSLR like D60.

However, there are no new 'updates' for other mounts.

There is no news on whether the new AF motor will perform faster then the old screw-thread mount. But here's the situation:

1. The old screw-thread mount is out of production.
2. The new AF motor will replace the old version.
3. The new AF motor will be more expensive than the old screw-thread mount.
4. According to press release, there are no further optical enhancement except for the addition of AF motor.
5. The old screw-thread mount is more durable than the AF motor, because the screw-thread mount is mechanical while the AF motor is electrical.

So if you wanna save money and not concerned about getting an 'outdated' lens, then go for the old version.

Hmm. Care to share which shop in funan is selling it for 470sgd? This one includes GST already right? tnx.

i check with him and the store. but the store never tell me it $470. think the store bs him

Just as i thought coz the lowest price i found right now is at 510sgd.

I would personally not trust a store who quotes me a price like $470 and then say there is no stock. This is one of the common tactics used. When going round checking prices and eventually finding that shop having quoted the lowest (despite having no stock), the buyer may think that this store gives the best deal, drawing the buyer back... but at that time, it would be time for the store to chop some carrots

bought the len from a nice guy here 3 weeks+ ago.. hapily using it now...
saw someone posting on SELL on this len in forum.. so grab it before too late.
