I see. Recently, noticed a number of places having such festival. There is one near my place.

Every year from the lunar 1st day of the 9th month till the 9th day is the nine emperor festival. Yesterday was the 9th day so it was the sending off of Gods ceremony.

Nice. Tripod used? few months back, took some at Race Course Road, all turn out bad. Their movement pretty fast.

Yes and it was a rowdy event too. its an important occasion for the Chinese in Malaysia too, especially Penang.

Biggest event in Phuket too. Almost the entire city celebrating with abundance of firecrackers and eye popping activities.

Negative... all hand held with high ISO. Flash used to fill in the shadow areas for some of the shots.

good to document this important festival.
years ago when i was a kid, they had very spectacular shows (involving stilt walkers acting out sniplets of Monkey gods etc...).
an interesting cultural experience.

Thanks, this is a first for me as well to document such an event.
