Default Nikkor 70-300 f4-5.6VR, Sigma 50-150f2.8 or Tokina 50-135f2.8?

Hi,

as the topic states. I'm thinking of getting one of the above lenses. there's not much difference in pricing. most obvious difference is the focal length and aperture. but what about the IQ? anyone used the above lenses before? please comment!
thanks!

i think it would depend on whether you want reach, or better images in low light. i wanted a fast lens, and settled for the sigma, with no regrets.
its a hsm, and it focuses lightning quick! below is a sample image.

Hi,

Yeah...Its more to do with the reach..I use the 70-300VR for reach. I could not afford the 70-200 f2.8, but even with 70-200 2.8, If I put an 2x converter, it would be 150-400 f5.6....so having a 300mm @ 5.6 is also OK...And this lens is quite good not only in performance...Also its a FX format lens... With D300 & 3D matrix focusing...this is also quite fast focusing...I have not used the Sigma 50-150...but looking at the post by 'screamingsnapshots' its obvious the speed is really good..

thanks for ur feedbacks! actually after reading some reviews online, i guess i would only consider the nikkor or sigma. as i'm using a d80, may i know what would be the range of the nikkor on a apsc camera since it was made for FF cameras?

well...i guess the extra 15mm would be good? cos from reviews...photozone.de said it was a tough call. but thom hogan never mentioned about the tokina at all and said the sigma was good.
