Any idea how to undo the thermal camera effect?

I guess the mac users would know that the photobooth application has a thermal camera effect.

I wonder if anyone out there knows any way to pp the thermal camera effect away, thus leaving it to be a like a regular coloured photograph?

The effect is heavily posterised with little colour details.. only way is the old school way.. grayscale the image and paint the color in~
