    Default OT Microsoft excel help

Hi i would like find out if there is a function in excel that allows the user to type a certain product number and all in the info about the product comes out.
for example i am typing in a tempory loan form.
the usual step will be to copy the item name and item number into the respective box
the item name and number comes in a pair.
is there something that i can insert into the form that allows me to search by item name then the number will appear.
i know that access can do it but my form format is in excel.

    any ideas?

You can use a combination of a data validation list and the vlookup function.

See example Excel file linked here :-

Excel consultation and form-creation is available for a fee

i realise that you need to type in the exact name inorder for a correct match.
is there a way that you just type like say A... and all those starting with A will appear in the drop down manual
