    Nope.

I have enough whetstones at home to fill my dry cabinet (I'm not joking) .

By the way, I am only interested in Japanese whetstones.

Unfortunately for me, some Japanese whetstones can cost as much as, or higher, than a trinity lens.

    Alamak.... Type error (amended).

It should be "some Japanese whetstones can cost as much as, or higher, than a trinity lens", not "some of my Japanese whetstones can cost as much as, or higher, than a trinity lens".

The most expensive whetstone I have probably costs as much as a brand new 50mm f1.4 prime (about 28,000 yen).

Interested to know how a US$3,800 whetstone looks like? Check out this Ebay auction.

Yes, I do that all the time (complaining, I meant) especially when dining at Han's with my family.

Hi KopiOkaya, have you heard of these Tanegashima knives before? They seem to be quite highly rated and the prices are quite reasonable too.

May I know when are single edged knives preferred over knives with a 50-50 edge?

Also, this may sound like a real silly question but how is a deba different from a santoku? They look pretty much the same to me.

    Yes, I have.

Such knives have a lower blade angle (15 degree or less). Thus, they are much sharper. However, do take note that single bevel knives come in both for left and right handers.

Simple.... Deba is for fish. It has a thicker blade and is heavier. I will show you the differences on Monday when we meet at Razorsharp.
