Yeah, I want one too.
Too bad the filter thread is 82mm. OUCH!!!! My wallet feels the pain when I think of the B+W filters to go with this lens.

It's really a lot smaller than the old Sigma 24-70 f/2.8.

How long will it take to make it widely available? Anyone have any idea about the price?

Since it's just been announced, be prepared to wait another 9 months before seeing lens in store.
I reckon it would be close to SGD $ 1k, if estimated the 'old' 24-70 EX DG Macro w/o motor is already in the SGD $780 region. But I would still want one! Even if it's around a thousand dollars, I believe it will pose a challenge to the Nikon AF-S 24-70 f2.8, that cost a little over SGD 2k. Last edited by nic67; 24th September 2008 at 11:18 AM. |

In terms of Picture Quality, unless the new version is gonna to be much better, then, I will still go for the older version. I dun need the HSM for this lens. For this range of focal length, I do not need to very fast AF. This is not a lens for sports or any fast actions. Unless you wanna to shoot your kit running around in the playground.

I'm used to USM motor and I dun feel the difference in AF speed for the older version. I wonder coud it be even faster or perhaps its just not so noisy...

this one feature 9 blades compared to the old one which only has 7 blades.
so i assume the bokeh would be nicer : ) |

Quality of bokeh depends on more than just the number of blades.
