Default Suitable settings for indoor shoot

Hi, wat are the optimal settings for shooting indoors?

i tried shooting using flash, but the flash is very harsh..

hope to get some help from members here..

You use built in flash? This tends to be too directional.
I used speedlite with omni bounce indoor and not too high ceiling. Not too bad.

Firstly, there is no 'optimal settings'

but yea, if you find the light too harsh, you may want to

1) diffuse the flash light by either bouncing it or attaching a diffuser to the flash
2) increase ISO / open up aperture / decrease shutterspeed so the flash doesn't become the main source of light

yup, i am using the built in flash..
