samples gallery is out now, take a look at the last few shots that show the high iso performance of the 5D mark II. ISO 6400 is stunning, even in shadow areas that are dark, hardly any noise can be seen, this is the same for iso 12,800. Amazing!
wow...just clicked on iso 1600, looks like iso 100 on any other DSLR http://www.dpreview.com/news/0809/08...kiigallery.asp

The noise level is incredibly low at the image level.
6400 like 1600 on a 40D. Very usable. |

I am VERY VERY impressed.
Much much much better than the 50D I tested today. Totally AWESOME. All the way to ISO 25600. The 5D2 certainly makes the D3/D700 cameras look so primitive. With nearly double the resolution and even cleaner high ISO performance... this is nothing short of shocking. ![]()

Clearly low noise but the sharpness suck.
It seems strong AA filter or NR for the photos. I expect more detail and sharpness at high ISO The lenses may reach limit for this monster. The photo comes from 70-200LF4 and 16-35L are not that great. Shall wait for the raw file from the production unit. Hope it will be better ![]() |

![]() But yes, having tested the 50D today, I have to admit that Standard NR option is now about the same as that on the D3/D700. Personally, I will stick to Low NR option which removes chroma noise (up to maybe ISO 3200) without applying excessive luminance noise removal. I am confident however that the AA filters on these cameras are rather light... the same as those in the 450D & 1000D. One needs to go RAW to appreciate the high pixel sharpness of these modern Canon sensors. The 70-200 f/4L lens is VERY sharp but the old 16-35 f/2.8 Mk1 is more dubious. Keep in mind the 5D2 has the SAME pixel density as the 20D, so whatever lens that appears sharp in the 20D should be just as good on the 5D2 (apart from the thinner DOF on FF).

Very impressed with the ISO 1600-3200 performance. Comparable to the ISO 400 shots of my 40D. That's the power of low-density sensors! The dream tool for the events/wedding photographer.

and i do not particularly like ur insinuation abt our efforts to consolidate all discussion in one thread abt the 5Dmk2 picture quality to make it easier for reading. i hope i am reading your intentions wrongly.
