The other thread for this lens got locked due to some arguement. So i post again hoping to get serious comment about it though no one has tried it yet.. Im looking to buy this lens with the 50d.
Since Canon has invented this new anti-reflective lens coating technology, i wonder if they will do this to the other primes and come out with new version. http://www.canon.com/news/2008/sep17e.html

The coating innovation kinda reminds me of Nikon's Nano -something- coating for their new lenses also

Yup, Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) is Canon's lingo for Nikon's nano crystal coating. Both utillizes nano particles on lens surface to cut reflection. Left is Canon's SWC. Right is Nikon's NC.

the 24 is going to be similar to the 35 on a FF body.... which is going to be a great focal length....

You mean on a crop factor body right? Yeah.. I guess so.. but I do have the 35L for that, which is another killer lens.

currently, i oni have the 50mm F1.4, it's my walk about... in fact my everything lah, cos no other lens liao
![]() so when it come to shootin wide, i gotta walk back quite a fair bit, it's ok for me to walk... but 50% of the time, it's either i cant walk anymore due to a wall behind me, or road, cliff, river, etc. so i'm thinkin of gettin a wide angle, beside 10-22mm, wat other recommendation r there? especially fixed focal wide angle, i've been diggin past post, and i understand 24mm is not wide enof due to the cropped sensor on 40D. ![]() |

i'll just simplify my question. is the 20mm f2.8 a good pair of lens in term of sharpness compare to 10-22mm? didn't get to try out 20mm, so wasn't sure if the 4mm (compare to 24mm) can c any diff or not ![]() |

can try the 16-35. it worked great for me. if u do not need to shoot in low light the 17-40 will be a cheaper choice. try renting the lenses and see which one suit u most.

Haha, you might not need to rent too, just go to a kopi outing with other canon users, I'm sure you would be able to test someone else lens. But of course at least buy the man a coffee

The corner sharpness is also greatly improved at f4 compared to the older version. Wonder what is the real world performance at f1.4 ![]() |
