Default Questions for Tamron 17-50mm

Just wondering if it is normal to hear some sound coming out from the lens when the lens is trying to focusing on an object. Is it due to the in built motor? TIA.

This question sounds dumb, but just want to ensure if it is normal...

Yes. Didn't you read about it prior to purchasing it? It's quite commonly known that this lens' focusing is a little noisy.

Haha it does sound a little buzzy.

Any focusing accuracy problems? If there aren't any, you should be fine.

What about on Nikon mount compared to AFS? Know that it is quite subjective but still like to know what other people thinks.

Try to download this and do a focus test. It helps. Then it will tell you exactly if there is any focusing problem with this.

The noise is the least bit of worry you should have... does your copy at times go focus hunting at low light setting at times? Thats the headache part of this lens...

I believe the focus hunt is an inherent flaw of this lens.

How about manual focus on this lens? I think it should resolve the focus hunt, right?
I'm ok with manual lens since I have some carl zeiss lenses.
I'm thinking to sell my 17-40L and replace with Tamy.

Manual focus is tough on a DSLR, as its focusing screen is nothing quite like that found on a manual SLR.

The focus hunt only occurs in poor light, and when you don't have a focus assist lamp (either in the form of your built-in flash, or lamps on Speedlites/ST-E2).

Pardon me about the focus hunt. I still get this at times even if the room is brightly litted (room fitted with an over head flourescent tube) even with AF-Assist using the cams built in lamp. But I noticed that the focus is always true when I use my Speedlight. I am not sure if the Speedlight's AF is superior or the readings been transmitted to the cam is more quicker and accurate then the cam's own built in AF lamp. *SIGH* Bizzare....
