Frustrated by the insufficient informations provided by other reviews, I decided to order the lens and do my own review
![]() http://witono.netagon.com.sg/tamronvc/ Previously I made a post on 'Tamron 28-300' is not true 300mm, it's being clarified and proven at certain focus distance. Last edited by RayDream; 15th September 2008 at 05:29 PM. |

Thanks for the review. I wanted to sell nikon 70-300 vr to get tamron 28-300 vc initially. But after finding out that the 300mm is "not" really the 300mm, I changed my mind.

Tweak, if I remember correctly, CP is selling it for S$900. Haha Zeddy no point to switch to tamron from 70-300 VR, its good enough though minimun focus distance is 1.5m. Maybe you can get an extender to make it a poorman's macro!
I think I'm keeping my Tamron since it's sharper than my Sigma 70-300. |

If that's the case, I think it would make for a very useable lens I think? ![]() |

Thanks for the review, just a quick check, can u confirm that you feel that its only at long distance over 8m that the 300mm start behaving like a decent 300mm?.... thanks again....

good day ray... Just a quick check... I just got the Tamrom 28-300.... actually just having some fun with it.... I did not really take notice coz I was too excited... but is the zoom extension "smooth" or kinda stiff and locks up around the 65mm mark? and does with like a klinky springy sounds?.... it sounds pretty noise when focusing or vibration control function is kicking in?.... its that normal?...
Picture quality seem pretty good and I have not fully tested it yet. Hope it will be fun. Thanks |

Hi Derek,
Congrats on your purchase. The zoom is very smooth for me, too smooth that it will slide down if I point downward. I have no locks up at 65mm mark! However at 200-300 range I do feel a bit of gear/motor working. Perhaps you can check with the Tamron service. And yes, the vibration compensation noise is normal, as clarified by many other reviews out there. |
