I chance upon a Chinese website which seem to be rather confident (99%) that the following AF-S Primes and Zooms will be released/announced at the upcoming Photokina 2008:
AF-S 50mm f1.4G AF-S 85mm f1.4G AF-S 70-200mm f2.8 VRII here's the link to the tranlated website interestingly it also said there is a possibility that the following may also be released: AF-S 28mm f2.8 AF-S 80-200mm f4.5-5.6 Lens 2 (VRII?) but i remember Thom Hogan once wrote recently that it's unlikely that Nikon will release so many lenses since it has already released a number this year and Nikon usually does not release more than 5-6 a year... so think this rumour might be true? ![]() |

Just wait and see. There should be no better timing this year to release the new lenses than at Photokina and that's just two weeks away.

they should just keep the prime to non-G lens... anyway, watever it is, hope the pricing remain or at least close to the current version. ![]() |

There should be a possibility i guess, but perhaps not within this year? Sound logical to implement AFS on the primes, at least they'll work for cameras without body AF motors. But again, purely speculations, it'll only be confirmed when nikon says it is

With more AF-S lenses, it will easier for Nikon to convince beginners to pick up D40/D60.
