I watched a TV program (forgot the name of the program) on Ch8 some time back, claiming to find those "long-lost" food stalls. There is a Chai-Tow-Kway stall in Suntec City food court, apparently the father of the current owner started the "white" colored type of CTK in SGP.

CONFIRM the best is at Toa Payoh Lorong 1A, Block 127. Chey Sua Carrot Cake, second floor. The chili she uses is amazing. And the way she fries it: crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside, is perfect.

It's 3-4 stores away from the best Hokkien Mee in Singapore: Tian Tian Lai

Best white carrot cake and best hokkien mee right next to each other. Doesn't get any better than that.

I usually go on Saturday mornings and order one plate of each, because the carrot cake store closes at about 1 usually. Business is THAT good.
I like the Tian Tian Lai hokkien noodles too. This Chey Sua apparently won some awards. Although I still prefer the carrot cake stall (not Chey Sua) next to Tian Tian Lai. Same, also order one plate of each, plus some of the small TeoChew pau's.

I should be eating there more often soon, as the H/C at Lor 4 is closed for renovations.

Those featured on TV probably have to pay Mediacorp to get them on the 'recommended' list.

That's right! The mini Teochew paus are also extremely tasty!

simple , those reviewers are not professional, they are not "god of cookery" , they are just actor/actress. So, if they said "this stall nice", ask yourself : "is it really that nice" .

go try it out then you will know.......

Which was why I typed "apparently". Anyway the stall is manned by some young chaps now & not the "uncle" shown on TV so the cooking would'nt be the same. Just like the Old Airport Rd "Wan-Tan-Mee" stall, further away from the curry noodles, now manned by another chap from another country & not the original seller, after the renovation. Now I only go for the one closer to the curry noodles. Still original sellers.

You know, I always thought that the stalls that TV recommend are good.. but i was so wrong.. i m always disappointed with the outcome of the taste of the recommended stalls.. hence i rather believe people who have tried and tasted rather than tv shows
