![]() Large image (800x532): http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2065/...118e34b8_o.jpg Taken at 125mm, very poor lighting conditions and hence ISO1600. One of the shots in the series without camera shake. Please rate the photo out of 10. I would greatly appreciate comments on how the image can be slightly improved and enhanced by PP and other comments on the composition and angle. Any other C&C are also welcome. No pp has been done, photo is as shot from camera JPEG directly. Thanks in advance |

7/10. I would prefer a slightly wider that would see the whole of the penguin. Nevertheless, a good capture.

I like it that the details of the fur was clearly seen, not overblown.
Yes, as with the rest, I would prefer the whole bigger picture w/o parts cut off, unless you only want to focus on the beak area. 7/10.

i guess the problem mainly lies in the compo then. thus it cant be corrected with PP.
anyway it was quite hard to get a shot at this location as i was shooting from some sort of vehicle and the exposure was also quite a problem at times |

a great moment you've captured. As mentioned by jasonwithcanon, try using the curve to bring up the image light abit.

Did you use unsharp mask in post-processing? The noise is quite bad. But other than that, great moment captured.

i cant recall, but i think no PP was done at all to the above image. it was taken at ISO1600 and hence some noise (quite a bit) is visible at the shadow areas. it was also a fairly old camera.
anyway heres the image after curves, and that also did contribute to even more noise. ![]() |
