Question What's the use of a Hotshoe to PC Sync Cord Convertor / Adapter?

Just curious, what's the use of a Hotshoe to PC Sync Cord Convertor / Adapter? Never used it before

if you need to connect your camera to a studio flash, and your camera does not have a flash sync terminal/PC sync socket, so you get one of this.

I see. Does it protect the camera from excessive sync voltage? In case the excessive fries the camera

no, it won't, the best way to protect your camera is use wireless trigger.

however, most modern studio flash units are having low trigger voltage, very safe for electronic cameras.
Unlike those huge and bulky studio flash units made 20~30 years ago have high trigger voltage, will even give photographers some nasty short if not be careful.
