tink telephoto of minimum 200mm if u want to fill the plane nicely in the frame? juz my guess.. unless they fly super low...

The SD14 is a 2x crop camera right? With the 18-200, you'll get an effective field of view of 400mm when you are at the most zoomed in position. You will need to shoot at a very fast shutter speed. 1/800s is probably the slowest you should go.
By the way, the 18-200 is not a wide angle lens. |
