I also thinking to buy this lens, very good review from here:
http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/37..._canon?start=2 wrote: The Tokina AF 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX is currently the best ultra-wide angle zoom lens for Canon EOS APS-C DSLRs. The resolution is impressively high throughout the zoom range (albeit a short one) and across the image field. Vignetting is really only a problem at 11mm @ f/2.8 but otherwise the issue is very well controlled. The level of distortions is comparatively low. Typical for most Tokina lenses it has one weakness: lateral CAs which are very high at all settings. The build quality is on a very high level and its a joy to handle the lens out there. All-in-all a very sound package especially when considering the quite affordable price |

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tokina/11-16mm.htm Sometimes, review by websites are to be taken with a pinch of salt... I rather hear the real feedback from the CS users who ever own or still owning this Tokina lens.

I tested this in the shop on a 40D.
I'd say its a really sharp lens, very well built, feels very sturdy. Its lighter than the 10-22, and much brighter in the viewfinder. As compared to the 10-22, it'll allow you to take WA shots indoors without a tripod and flash much easier. |

I used to own the 11-16 AND 10-22 at one point. I only use ultrawide lenses for landscape. With that in mind, I sold the 11-16 'cos (i) it is rather prone to flare (ii) does not focus as close as 10-22 for foreground coverage (iii) not as wide by 1.6 mm (35 mm equivalent) at the ultrawide end (iv) both lenses are equal sharpness at f/8. The Canon 10-22 does suffer more from field curvature than the 11-16 though.

Actually, what is ur intention of the lens?
You have a 1DSMKIII , maybe a 17-40 will suit you better than either the tokina or EFS 10-22. Interchangable between the two bodies as well. |

17-40? I travel often for business trips and i prefer a wide angle lens for my landscape.... 17-40 to me so not wide compared to 11-16mm or 10-22mm and i hardly carry my 1Ds for travel.... Maybe i should rephrase it as a travel lens?

tested on my d80 on Friday.. seems that there's a AF problem with my D80, after probing further on the net, I also found that some D80 users have AF problem with the tokina 11-16.. anyone encounter this problem?
