![]() Exposure: 0.2 sec (1/5) Aperture: f/20 Focal Length: 48 mm This is the 6p.m view from my balcony one fine evening after the rain. I've always wanted to capture the beautiful rays of lights you can see on certain days but the problem is that underneath this beautiful sunset is a factory foreground. I've always faced the problem of providing a nice framing for the whole scene. After a few tries, this is what i perceived to be the better framing so far, to just include the roof of the factory. Can i have some comments please? maybe some advice on how i can avoid putting the building into the picture and yet not make the whole composition of the picture feel 'weird'. On top of that i admit to a lill' blur to the rooftops, and i would say it is cause by unstable hands >.< but i'll get my own tripod soon. |

It suits fine with me. Fact that you have got the factory's roof as less than 25% approx height of the whole picture is a good effort. You have managed to capture the shades of blue and gold, and perhaps you could have waited till 6:15, then 6:35, then 6:45 till 7pm till 7:35 last light, if there's still any light at all. I've similar pictures too, if you dont mind me putting one here.
![]() EXIF Data for comparison: Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1000) Aperture: f/8 Focal Length: 18 mm O yes, you can always get it done in portrait ma... so you'll get mroe of the skies Issit me or the parabola OOF?

holy crap i have something like that too..~! hahaha i did something like that but i didn't have the clouds in the middle, making the whole composition of the photo look really empty.
Yes, that's true, i believe it's caused by a lill' motion when the shutter was opened. Thanks for your comments! =) |

based on the comments you did not use a tripod here
as a very , very general rule (differs from person to person and equipment), you should only handhold up to 1/x of x focal length. 0.2 seconds is not going to be easy to handhold at 48mm, it is not impossible but you will probably need bracing and reasonably good technique. but on the other hand - why do you need f/20 here (thereby resulting in 0.2 seconds exposure time needed)? f/8 is well more than sufficient in this scene here. i think diffraction due to overly small apertures is an overstated thing (if you do not know what it is , read up by googling the term).. but the depth of field given by f/8 is more than sufficient here, you do not need f/20. |
