    Default Lesson in 'f stop'

I need some help in understanding f stops.

What does it mean to "open up a stop" or "stopping down"?

How many stops difference is f2 and f2.8, for example?

Please see my explanation in this thread.

There are also online lessons on Nikon website. You can read chapter 5 & 6 to get a better understanding on aperture and shutter speed. Let us know if you need more help.
