Default Lowepro photo trekker or nature trekker?

Hi, need some feedback from all those who own one (or both) of these two backpacks.

I am going to have three trips near the end of this year, at least two are considered as photography trips (e.g. Thailand/Nepal and New Zealand). Would consider to get one bigger backpack insead of carrying my mini-trekker. So which one is better (in your opinion) over the other? And anyone knows how much is the photo trekker?

You should consider the carry on size for airlines. The mini trekker is ok for carry on. If you look at the lowepro site they do indicate which back pack meets the carry on size. Both the photo and nature trekkers are tagged as airlines carry on. But I'm not sure about the photo trekker as it is rather big. The smaller airlines are more strict about carry ons than bigger airlines like SIA etc.

I checked on lowepro site, seems both photo and nature trekkers can be carried on a flight.

Anyone has carried a photo trekker on a plane before?

Nature Trekker II AW can be barely stuffed to the bottom seat. And from the dimensions from the catalog, Photo Trekker should be able to carry on board, but must be stowed on the top compartment. Photo Trekker can never be stuffed without obstruction.

But anyway Nature Trekker is quite big, I can put like 2 medium digital/film SLR bodies with grip, 6 lenses and a flash. Together with blowers, cleaning kits and spare batts in the main compartment. The front flap can put quite some magazines and books, filter bags and spare memory cards. The front also has an extension bag to put a folded tripod. Both the sides have loops to put 4x small lense cases or 2x long lense cases. There's also torso belts that can put at least 2 pouchs on each of them. When fully packed, it's a killer.

The Nature Trekker II AW costs around S$260 (it also comes with a Daypack Haversack free), so a Photo Trekker is at least S$330?

hmmm.... who was the one who told me last time that my photo trekker can't board the plane?

Was it you? Or Larry?

Anyway, once in the airport I had my equipments (both 35mm and medium format) stuffed into my Billingham 445. Obviously, the bag is not going to swallow all of them.

So what I did was to get a cool looking vest with lots of big pockets for me to drop my lenses in. Problem solved, cool ehhh...

Some of the Airline very sticky and depend or the airport of departure. Last time I have experience with Qantas from Melbourne the ask me to put my bag on the bag measurement gauge and just bit to big, event I told him is camera they don't allow me to carry in. Took out my winter Jacket from day compartment wear it. Luckily the bag can fit in the measurement gauge. I was using Mini Trekker the old version one.

Ehhh... not me, okay? So most airlines do not allow to carry nature trekker on board? If yes then photo trekker is more difficult.

Photo Trekker can fit 737 overhead compartment. Smaller aircraft like MD-80 (common on US internal flights) i don't think it fits. You may want to check what sort of aircraft you're flying (especially internal flights).

I do not own a mini Trekker but I would like to have one with a camera compartment with a another compatment for my own stuff like the Lowepro Orion Trekker

Specs

I used to own one of this but it may be too small for your configuration. There is another option which is the UNOMAT backpack 1.
