    If you can afford the original, go for it. Otherwise, settle for the cheaper alternative. Sigma is not too bad but at 24mm f2.8 it can bit a bit soft. Not sure if it's just my copy though.

    Is Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 suitable for wedding photography? 28mm is a bit narrow here though.

    FYI, I have covered (quite recently) several weddings using only a 50mm, on a film(!) SLR. Yup, HDB actual day shoot. Just have to adjust your style

    I think though, that ZerocoolAstra in post#2 has pretty much summed up what you need to know.
