Default Tamron 28-300 VC not true 300mm? Owner please clarify

Hey, read some hk news on this lens is not 'true 300mm'

http://dcfever.com/reviews/readrevie...d=312&id=18449

Some owner of this lens, care to test it with other 300mm lens?

Thanks!

it is usual for the focal length to be reduced when focusing on near subject due to internal shifting of the glass elements on such super zoom lens.

What they claim is that it seems shorter than 200mm.

If you are expecting to see phenomenal sharpness at 100%, I am sorry to disappoint you. It doesn't happen, almost all the time. Let's not forget we're talking about a superzoom here, not even a top-of-the-range prime lens.
