Default Tamron 17-50 front focus problem

Hi all, my tamron 17-50 lens has front focus problem after I tested it . It is the most pronounce at f/2.8 where DOF is very shallow.

I still have 8 months of shop warranty. Do I take back to the shop or should I send the lens to Tamron service center to recalibrate again? Your advices would be much appreciated, thanks!

Be prepared to wait 3-4 weeks if you send in to Tamron Service Centre,as there's none here and the distributer will ship it back to Japan's division

My Tamron is made in Japan. I bought it second hand from a CSer...still have 8 months of shop warranty though.

The problem with this lens is at 17mm f/2.8. I find the front focus most severe at low light condition. However, stop down to f/4 and more the focus is ok. Well, as most of you might have experienced, we normally use 17mm for landscape and usually use at least f/8...so problem is not so serious.

Having that all said, I must say the Tamron is really a good lens (cheap too!) for hobbyist like me. I will still recommend this lens for those who are thinking of getting one, but please test the lens for focus accuracy before buying.

Actually, is it a front focus prob or is it a case of a too shallow DOF?
Do u have any test pics to show?

It's confirmed front focus. Because I test shot with both AF and manual, and the result is manual focus is sharper.

Sorry I don't know how to upload pics yet.

Does Tamron charge us for this front / back focus problem? since it's not user's fault.
Especially those lens which warranty had ended.
