Thread: Arsenal Football Club - The Gunner's Thread 2

As an Arsenal fan for more than a decade, I really don't fancy their title chances this season, nor the next. In fact for the last few seasons, the new blood though showing tremendous improvement just lack that mental strength to challenge the tougher teams like Man U and Chelsea. One thing those 2 team has is they really 'fight' when they play, maybe its psychological but when I see Arsenal play against MU or C, I really feel it is boys against men. They simply get pushed around.
Unlike the days when the midfield is marshalled by the dominating Vieira, or the defence so nicely packed by Adams and of course the ever wonderful King Henry and Bergkamp. The current Arsenal squad is a pale shadow of its predecessor.
At best they are now comprised of a few talented individuals namely Fabregas, Arshavin, the rest lacks character to shine on their own. But you cant win the title based on a few people. Its a team effort.
Arsene has been using the same excuses for so long I don't even need to read what he says nowadays. His constant refusal to purchase players is getting ridiculous and I feel players are getting complacent about their place in the 1st team.
I hope the board does something drastic to wake everybody up including Arsene, or it will be the same story next season.

And I oso dont fancy their visit to Stamford Bridge this Sunday. My prediction, 2-0 to Chelsea, though I would love to be proven wrong.

yeah...they seem to be physically lightweight. see them being bundled over very frequently.

I think the key thing missing for me is the lack of fighting spirit.
I agree with the Vieira/Henry/Adams/Bergkamp reign. So much more 'punch'.
The sooner you get it, the longer you enjoy it.

Good results all round for gooners this mid week.

    Arsenal win.
    Chelsea lose.
    Man Utd draw.
    Liverpool lose.
    Aston villa draw.
    Tottenham lose.

And the bonus is we have finnish our home and away fixtures with them (except Tottenham).

what a relief. it wasn't a great performance with still too much misplaced passes and complacency. but a win is a win, made all the more sweeter by the results of our rivals.

at least we have finished playing the top 2 and they have yet to play each other. hopefully things will be a little easier from this point forth.

From the looks of things, to win the title, it's no longer dependant on what we do any more but having the top 2 to drop points because on paper, our team is not as strong (Chelsea) and experienced (Man U) as the top two ...

Just learnt that Chelsea lost at home to Man City! If we're going to lift the title trophy this year, we must keep up and beat Stoke! Even though we don't have a good run against them this year, let's hope we can beat them with sheer determination and fighting spirit! Go Gunners!

    it's 1-1 at half time.

we were down 1-0 in the 8th minute. same old story...defenders deserting the far post.

thankfully we picked up the pace after that and gained more control of the game. superb cross by fab for bendtner to head it home.

2nd half starting soon. let's hope we keep this up and finally win at stoke.

late late goals helped Arsenal win 3-1 over 10 man Stoke, and move to within 3 points of Chelsea!
