    Nope Actually I like ERP.

It helps me to save $50 + with the reduction of road tax.

It is also helping me to own a car in SG.

We have seen a significant ease in traffic jam at previous congested highways.

We should build more ERP gantries to allow even the lower income families to be able to afford a car

high COE prices will not be a welcome move for those who aspire to own their 1st set of wheels. there r those who can afford at any cost, some just manage to afford, some barely can but take the risk with little financial buffer against any financial instablility.

its likely those in the last category that will be the hardest hit with more gantries & increasing ERP rates.

if oni urban planners think like u (& me), but unfortunately not.

there are industries that make a handsome profit from having an increasing number of car owners. i do not have solid numbers to back up my claims but any car owner could probably blab out a list where the budget went.

as i see it now, people with or without their own set of wheels are not going to have life any rosier. huge car population got traffic jam, depend solely on public transport not feasible for some homes not well served by public transport.

time is $$ some have decided to get their own set of wheels to save time, in the past where the likelihood of traffic jams are still "liveable", it's a nice trade-off. the past is the past...

I ride motorbike, if I travel to work I will hit ERP too.

But I prefer to squeeze in our World Class Transportation system.

Although during peak hour condition in the MRT is pretty bad. Poor air ventilation, overcrowded and no seats. But it's much better if you compare with Japan, India or even Cambodia. I am sure after a series of fare hikes by SMRT the condition will improve.

I am convinced that ERP is for the benefit of Singaporeans after listening to NDR 2008

It gives more savings and make car more affordable thus more singaporeans can afford to own cars.

    But....
Owning a car and whether is it affordable to drive it on the roads are 2 different matters

anyway, every time a new system is introducted i will cringe at the thought of malfunctions that always seem to charge more (Ez-Link was liddat). after charging more operators made it a hassle to get refund, by being charged more along the way!

news reported a new system where 1 card rules all (our pockets?).

    6th 'C' = charge?

i do believe that motorists are THINKING adults,
    if conditions is so bad,
n we still want to be caught in a jam,
    thats our prerogative,right?
after, we paid to be there.

imagine our salary is structure like the ERP system,
    the more incompetent i m,
the slower i work n the more i hold others up,
    the higher my pay is.
    logical? not to me.
    not motivated to improve.

we should only pay when the xpress way is xpress.
if i travel at 100% of my speed limit,
i pay 100% of the erp rate.

There is a saying. It is easy to buy a car(not now) but it is more difficult to maintain it!

ERP is a product of the policy to allow more to own cars.

So the policy to allow more to own cars may be flawed.

I wun blame the govt if I cannot own a car because it is my incompetence in making money.

However, this policy leads to ERP which in turn leads to many drivers' unhappiness with the govt.

Zero sum game. While trying to make them happy, they were made unhappy.

    Unpopular decision made.

They had made it very clear. It is going to be very expensive to have a car iin Singapore. So here it comes; weekend cars for those who only drive on weekends and ... hours
They may have to implement single digit drive into the city...
