When I deem it is good enough.

you're missing out on the whole point.

this forum is for the masses and does not serve only to you, with your warped perception of how fotography should be.
What warped perception of photography do I have?

however i'm not for butter-flatteries that serve no purpose at all except to swell the ego of the CSer.
    Again, this is subjective.

and if thats your reason for doing photography then, well, i pity you.
    100 close-ups of different models aren't similar.

Its completely different, since its different models, eh?

Well, if thats your mindset, I have nothing to say.

Actually, that appears to be the mindset of everyone here, so really, I understand you guys now. Thanks for the enlightenment!

    Again, this is subjective.
so, if you choose not to walk the talk, this thread and discussion here is as good as futile.

the warped perceptions of yours is as stated in your earlier post, to make fotography 'unique' and trying to force home your 'unique' point of view on how fotography should be like.

and as for the 'subjective' reply with regards to my comments on the swelling of the ego, be my guest, run a search in portrait n poses and you will see them all over the place.

this discussion is heading nowhere with the TS having a very warped perception of how fotography should be.

fotography does not only cater to you, nor does it have to conform to your own 'unique' point of view.

    ...no

effectively if your photos are popular it simply means you are not unique at all, it means that your perspective caters to the crowd, simple as that.

the most unique person in the world is the one that takes the ugliest photos. because only he alone can appreciate his art.

what's with all this trying to be different? is it that important to feel like you're so speshul? at the end of the day, you live, you breathe, you die. no one's that different.

btw, a closeup of a model, i.e. typical head + shoulders is simply a popular composition.

it is possibly because everyone are poor boys who can only afford 50mm lenses..

there's more to a photograph than simply WHO the model is. Each person has a different style in terms of exposure, composition, framing, etc. I don't shoot models or this kind of portraits, so i can't say for sure.

Since you seem to have made up your mind that you are holier-than-thou, the creme-de-la-creme of artistic scholarship, then i rest my case.

haaaave a nice day. or try to, at least.

I've been reading your posts in this thread. I do agree with you.

But perhaps you could have posted your views in a more politically-correct way.
"I wish there were more photo shoots like this"? This is a forum! do you expect the moderators to start closing threads with "boring" portraits because they're not to your standard? The photographers that took these "boring" are learning. so by all means critique them honestly...harshly even! ( like deadpoet does)

But please don't go and give general statement slamming the majority of portrait photographers in this thread its not only rude but discouraging for newbies who want to start photography. They may shoot "boring" shots now, but someday, i sincerely hope they will blossom and produce great photographs with the advice imparted from this forum.

just my 2 cents and no hard feeling, eh?

Haha, oh well. I think everyone here thinks I have "a warped idea" about photography, and that I'm being elitist.

And no, I'm not expecting the mods to close threads, that'd be ridiculous! I just wish that people would have a sense of how good they are. Thats all.

Then again, everyone is free to post crap here.

Maybe I am too direct or they just don't get what I mean.

    1) yes, you are too direct

    2) yes again, you are elitist. But thats fine! elitism is good, provided you exercise it the right way i.e being elitist towards newbies so that they will one day 'join the elites' ( quoted off Richard Dawkins )

    cheers,
