    Mostly direct....

    I only bounce when the ceiling and walls are conducive for it

    The ABBC with black stripe works brilliantly for me, especially portraits - great feathering look. Use that most of the time, followed by Sto-Fen and usually bouncing off ceiling and when needed, direct flash, still with Sto-Fen.

    Never direct. Bounce when ceiling is not too high and color neutral. Diffuser when no ceiling to bounce. Large flash card when i take indoor group shots

    There is no such thing as a garyfong reporter.

    As to which diffuser/flash accessory is better, everyone will have their preferences, and every flash accessory produces a different kind of effect, and is used in a different situation. There is no one magic solution for every situation.

    i use an omnibounce
    diff people diff preferences
    i try to bounce most of the time

    Try it by wrapping a piece of tissue paper over your flash head and shoot direct...its one of the cheapest and fastest way to diffuse flash. Good for desperate measures.

    Used to... now I just dial in a negative flash ev to lower the power instead...
