If I recall correctly no VC that means no vibration control model. The price was from the distributor's ad on newspaper. Bet can get around RM1,000 or so. Have no time there was really tempted to get it as only around S$450.

The Tamron AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro (Model A18) does not come with Vibration Compensation (VC), Tamron's equivalent of Nikon's VR or Canon's IS.

I just got one yesterday from J 3:16 @ Funan. Paid $690 for it. Good walkabout lens. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot anything yet because I'm at work but the lens is attached to my camera in my car and I may bring it out this evening to 'run it in'.
I feel that it's a good 'walkabout' lens. Yes, there's barrel distortions (wide) and pincushioning (tele). It's also a slow lens which makes it a better 'daytime outdoor lens' than an 'evening/indoor' lens for sure. But just bring along a tripod (it's quite light so you don't need a real heavy duty tripod) and you'll do fine. It beats walking around with my 17-40 4L, 50 1.4 prime and 70-200 2.8L since I get almost the entire range in one neat little package. But having said that, I'll probably end up having to do more PP in photoshop and of course I don't intend to print the images into super large format so it suits my purposes for now. Btw, it used on both an EOS 10D and 30D body. Hope this is useful information to whomever that's looking at getting this lens. Last edited by vince; 26th August 2008 at 02:19 PM.
