    Try doing this.

Open your browser and go to www.google.com, and type: "wide angle lenses" in the search box

Then click on the first few links and do some reading.

www.google.com can't get opinions from different people.

are you sure? articles on the net are written by people not computer generated automatically, so basically its already "opinions from different people"

Not true. Just because one is a newbie does not mean we have to spoonfeed the invididual, especially if info is readily available on a topic.

Take for instance this: what is a UV filter?

Is info on this not readily available? There is a fine line to draw between spoonfeeding and giving helpful advice.

    ------

To TS: KRW's site is comparing Nikon variants of these lenses. If you want lab tests, check www.photozone.de out. They conducted tests on the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 and Tokina 12-24mm f/4. I am not considering the Tamron 11-18mm since it is quite a fair bit poorer in optical quality to the other three.

    OT abit,

I have the Sigma 10-20 using with 40D. Will there be noticeable improvement in IQ if I change it to Canon 10-22?

If your Sigma is a good copy, hardly any notable difference. I had the privilege of having a very sharp copy of the 10-20 and I was blown away by its resolving power, even wide open.

I think the most noticeable difference you'll feel is the slightly faster aperture.

we were all newbies once..who know HTCahHTC might already done his due diligence but still can't make up his mind?

reading is one thing..given the commericalisation of everything..a writer claiming excellence for one lens might be paid to do so..

where is the best place but here to get an honest (and sometimes brutal) comments on the products?

i am sure HTCahHTC is both enthu and excited.

do read more about lens. I personally prefer the Canon one..if not Tokina. the sigma comes last.

And your reason for this verdict?

    personal preference lor.

see the pictures from various sources and read abt "comments" and "feedback" from both official and non-official publications.

my CURRENT verdict is the canon one..might change, might not change.

I would consider the Canon to be the best, considering its also a good $180 more expensive than the next most expensive competitor (the Sigma).

However, as mentioned earlier, the Sigma is no slouch, and is a very good alternative if you still want 10mm, but don't have as generous a budget.

For more samples that I've shot with this lens, see here: http://k-leb-k.deviantart.com/gallery/#Sigma-10-20mm

Do note that while this lens is designed only for APS-C, I've been able to use it from 13mm onwards (without hood) on a 1D Mark II (1.3x crop). The most recent image uploaded was shot in a 1DMkII, while the rest were shot on a 30D.

Ah....this is the kinda of comments that HTCahHTC needs to make a decision.

I am kinda interested in Sigma's WA now too..

to be fair, probably google will not really answer your question easily.

but all ultrawides are pretty decent - what you need to consider is price, and weight, and maximum aperture and focal range.

end of story, all of them tend to have good builds and solid image quality. after all, you SHOULD be shooting at f/8 most of the time using this lens.. so wide open is not really an issue.
