Default Mac & D100

Hi guyz,

I have been using my D100 with the Pc version of Nikon Capture Control to customise my curves, using the USB cable to connect.

After I got my Mac laptop, 12" PB, I tried the same setup. But the laptop could only detect the CF card in the camera, not the camera itself....

Anyone got any experience with this?

Cheers

Ya I have installed the latest version already. But still cant work... Is it because of the USB connection. Some ppl say that Mac stuff doesn't handle USB connections well...

Try ask around in Rob Galbraith's forums. I think you should try using FireWire CF reader.

Do note that both USB or PCMCIA based connection requires CPU interrupt for each I/O request... read very slow.

Firewire based I/O only need one CPU interrupt to start and to stop.

Try it if you can, and you will see what I mean.

Im using a USB card reader to read my CF. It works fine.

The problem is using USB, the Powerbook cannot detect my camera. So I cant use the Capture Control to load my custom curves in it.

The following parameters have to be in place if you want to control the D100 thru Nikon Capture.

Nikon D100 upgraded to Version 2.0.0 Firmware
Nikon Capture 3.5 or above (recommend 3.5.1 as it fixes a white balance bug)

Try the USB options in the custom settings. There's a choice of P2P and Mass Storage. The latter should work.

Enable Mass Storage (M) in the setup menu if you want to transfer images using Nikon View.

Enable PTP (P) in the setup menu if you want to use Nikon Capture to control the camera.

Since you have upgraded the firmware and gotten the latest versions, it should work fine using the USB cable.

I've not been having any problems with my D100 and an iBook, PowerBook and Power Mac with both Nikon Capture and Nikon View.
