Im thinking of covering a event with the above lens... would it be enough? Anyonje tried it before? the rest of my lens would most prob not be fast enough in low light. =( |

i dont think you will be shooting everything at f1.4 right?
Maybe u can also use slower lens with higher ISO + flash.

It really depends on what kind of event. Most of the time, the trinity lens combination works great for events.

This lens is not wide enough to cover group photos, not tele enough to capture close-up portrait.
Am I correct? ![]() I don't have this lens, but planning to get. ![]()

Question:
what camera body are you using? do you have an external flash unit? |

Im using a D40. and yes, i have a external flash unit.
But partly the reason why im tempted to bring just the sigma lens is becoz i dont like to use the flash unit.. |

Actually, if i bring a 17-55, the zoom factor isnt fantastic and i can most prob make up by better positioning. =p and i dont get as big a aperture as the f1.4.

Hotel ballroom with a 30mm x1.5 crop = 45mm... nope. nadda. BAD idea.
Best stick with your existing setup with external flash. Either that or go get a super-wide.. sigma 20mm f1.8 or wider. |

14-24 f/2.8 24-70 f/2.8 70-200 f/2.8 These are not only fast lenses, but they cover the whole range of what you would need for most events ![]() |
