Default Camera Stores in Singapore

Hi all!

I will travel to Singapore in August. I want utilize this opportunity to add a lens, a flash light, and a bigger camera bag for my DSLR system. Since I am from Europe, I hope I can find a lower price for those things in Singapore.

Can anybody recommend camera stores with good variety and price in Singapore?

What I want to buy:

Tokina AT-X PRO 116
Crumpler The Sinking Barge
Nikon SB-600
Nikon 50mm F1.8

Thanks!

In my experience, photographic equipment is usually more expensive in Singapore than in Europe.

r u sure? i think it depends on which part of europe lorz in this case. I do know us is generally cheaper though for many items.

I think John 3:16 is the safest choice as they treat customers fairly. They are located at Funan the IT Mall (city hall train station).

For variety(not neccessary price) cathay photo is one of the bigger distributors/stores and is located throughout(many units) pennisular plaza(beside funan).

Recommend John 3:16 located at Funan Centre Level 5. Look for Samuel or Leslie. BTW i have a underutilised Crumpler's Brian's Hot Tub. Almost like new. If you are keen, feel free to contact me at antzlee@singnet.com.sg to discuss but i will be in Europe from 11-23 Aug.

One more thing too; there are two retail locations for Cathay Photo (http://www.cathayphoto.com.sg/contactus/), one of which doesn't open on Sunday. Ditto for the John 3:16 shop too (could be wrong though). So, if you're travelling to Singapore, you may want to check out their opening hours and days.

Also, John 3:16 and Cathay Photo - Peninsula Plaza outlet are in very close walking distance from each other, so visit one, visit both.

I haven't compared recently, but the high prices were one thing that I noticed when I came to S'pore. And despite the VAT/GST being more than twice its S'pore equivalent in Europe.

Also, I believe that European Union consumer laws require dealers to provide two full years of warranty.
