Stage 1 read manual of the SLR
Stage 2 read lots of photography magazines or books
Stage 3 explore and start shooting different mode
Stage 4 take up basic course to cover all the stuff you have missed from the books
    Stage 5 repeat practise
Stage 6 take a photography trip and shoot all the way.....

Complete Idiot's Guide To Photography, that is how I started on my path in photography. An easy guide to understand all the different technical terms used in photography.

For me i think it was experience comes in at first place. Another very useful channel for learning would be by looking at good pictures taken by others. Books and magazines do give nice pointers here and there too!

Only conventional styles are accepted, traditional methods are used and barriers for new entrants.

There is no place to learn about it, the best way is by observation, thinking out of the box, exploring different styles and concepts... to be different from the rest...

If not, you are just another ordinary-replaceable-dispensable asset, not a talent.
somebody stepped on your toes before huh?

CS is a good place to learn, if you know selectively who and what to learn. there are experts around constantly churning out good works, but perhaps not many of them divulge "trade secrets".

photography is like cooking anyways, its always good to experiment and be creative about flavouring etc, but its either you hit it, or miss it entirely.
    chezburgr i can haz?
