OMG. guys, this afternoon my d50 was mounted with a tamron 90mm. and everything was fine, i could AF and everything, and then i put it down, then i went out.
just recently i wanted to playplay with my camera, and then it cant AF anymore! only can fire in MF. i half press to AF i keep hearing the motor whirring, but the focusing barrel isnt moving. i tried on my 50/f1.8 as well as my 12-24/f4 also cannot! omg, anyone roughly know how much to fix.. ? warranty of course, over liao. ): |

quick update, i read on dpreview forums that by cleaning the contact points of both lens and body mount may solve it.
so far it still doesnt work. i have a feeling it could be a small problem, maybe misalignment of the af screw on the body thus it cant make contact with the lens. the lens still sends information like metering, and aperture to the body. actually, if i MF the lens till the subject is in focus, then Switch the AF and half press, theres actually the "beep" sound, to confirm that subject is focused. but once i move the camera out of focus, the motor starts trying to focus but to no avail. anybody can advise? |

I think it'll cost a couple of hundreds.
It'll be better if you go straight to NC and ask them check. Rather than open up and see yourself. time to upgrade ![]() |

Thanks CT. I wish I could help but I don't have the spare parts.
With the amount of dismantling needed, $171.20 should be reasonable
