Default ViewFinder dirty in D200

Hi, i got a problem here.

My viewfinder got a bug and some dirt inside. But its doesnt affect the pictures.

I went to NSC but they cant remove it as well. They find it weird also, and suggest that i could pay $160 for the full servicing but no guarantee that it could be remove.

Any gurus here ever face this prob???

Kindly advise ya.

The bug and dirt probably got stuck to the focussing screen. This is difficult to clean, can only try to blow it out. Cannot wipe the rough side of focussing screen cos it will scratch (even with lens cleaning paper or cloth, I try once)

Just try to get it off with a blower and live with it. Or else chance the focussing screen.

They should design the single digit D bodies like the single digit F bodies with removeable prism heads.

Leave it! The dirt could be in between the glass (above focusing screen) and the prism.
There's no way to remove it but to lift the prism. A process that requires a lot to dismantle.

I'm sure NSC has removed the focusing screen and tried to blow the dust.

There's a few risk in DIY: you might scratch your focusing screen, damaged the mirror damper, blow in some more dust instead of removing.

Not worth the risk of dismantling a lot for just a small dust that does not affect the pictures.

Ask yourself, will the resale value of your camera increase by S$160 if you have it cleaned?
(If can be cleaned)

Just some friendly advise.
