Got the SB900 too ... can't wait to play with it
First thing that struck me was the size of the head, larger than the SB800. The next thing that struck me was the inability to have a 5th battery like the SB800, but I guess due to the lower GN number and greater zoom capability, it might not need that much power to recycle. I don't think that there will be an 'aftermarket' 5th battery compartment coming either because the battery compartment lid does not seem to come off. The shop told me that the SD-8A will still work with the SB900, therefore no need to buy the SD-9. Finally, the SB900 does not have the 3 Pin connector to TTL string flashes. So, you can only activate via SC28/29 or use CLS. Finally finally, can't fit the GF Lightsphere for the SB800 onto the SB900 ... ![]()

And SB-900 with the external battery pack was about 1 second for a full charge.

Yes, see this with a Nikon turbo CKE cable fitted to a CD 2 x 2 from Eastgear. similar cable to the quantum cos I was using the Quantum 2 x 2 with the same cable prior to this.

Might as well get the complete set bundle with CD 2 x 2. The CD 2 x 2 is very good that's why I switch from quantum to CD 2x 2 Last edited by chngpe01; 25th July 2008 at 01:08 AM. |
