Default Autofocus Fine Tuning

Hey CS pals,

Anybody has tried the AF fine tuning on the D3/D300?
Any feedback on that?

I'll be trying it out this weekend. Any pointers how you go about?

It seems to be a great feature as I find that, in portraits, it is very difficult to get the exact pinpoint focus on the eyes of the person. It is always a few mm off (when seen at full scale).

Thanks in advance !

I did that on D300 seems great so far
my 50mm f1.8 was tuned to +18...
quite a good feature to apply
you never know the calibration for your individual lens try it.
It may well be of good use

How do you tune it? You shoot at different +/- increments then decide which value gives you optimum sharpness?

got a question to add on. Do you guys use the chart at 45degree? I tried that before on my 80-200 on D70s to find out its backfocusing at 200mm min focusing distance. Some on the net after my research indicated that we shouldnt use the chart at odd angles...but parallel. Thanks in advance

parallel or not, i believe it still have backfocus as far as my experience using that lens. normally i just do a focus lock and shift my head alittle back. =X
